There are many different kinds of cancer in pets and depending on the location the type of cancer there may be various types of treatments offered. Some cancers can be surgically removed with complete recovery expected. However, other types of cancer cannot be removed and this chemotherapy is an alternative that can cause remission of the cancer.
Chemotherapy treatments are not painful and most pets show very few side effects or feel ill during their treatments. Animals tend to tolerate chemotherapy better than people do.
The goal is remission and to extend or improve the life of your pet with cancer. The time your pet can remain in remission is dependent on the type of cancer and how well they respond to the treatments, but months or even years are possible in some cases.
